It's perfectly reasonable to be upset at this products existence, and blizzard's own support will direct you to reddit to voice your feedback. But is the entire reason for this product existing at all. And the timeless, legendary position of it's source persisted not only to the point that they remade and resold it just last year, 20 years later. June 27th, 2001 was when the last diablo product released without any additional payment thoughts in mind. When they removed it, the entire loot and progression table had to be remade just so people could reasonably reach the end of their product. It's easy to forget but Diablo 3 was released with the real money auction house as a completely integrated factor for its climb to the end of the game. Diablo was and is still very much capable of being more then a week and half of fun and forget for 95% of the people who are going to play it. You should be pissed at the game you didn't get. Eventually, we landed on the video that went out, which just wasn't sufficient, and spokespeople like myself and the Immortal team were hung out to dry at BlizzCon.When a game is this aggressively gated with cash, they make the core experience ground up different then it would have been if they wanted to make an intentionally fun and fair experience. Nevermind the fact there were plenty of clues this was already the case, like "unannounced Diablo title" job listings on our website. Every step of the way, the script was changed until it was unrecognizable, because leadership (particularly Activision and their obsession with investors) did not want to "give up the surprise" that Diablo IV was being worked on. Every step of the way, this approach was questioned. I pitched and championed this video as well as wrote the original script, because I was extremely in tune with the community and confident as to what the reception would be. Some of you may remember the Future of Diablo video we released just prior to the Immortal announcement. and they were working on Diablo 2 Remaster and another secret thing (Immortal), and couldn't announce all of them at Blizzcon. The wording made it sound like they were working on Diablo IV and Diablo 2 Remaster and maybe another secret thing like another Diablo 3 class pack like Necromancer, but they can't announce all 3+ of them at Blizzcon.īecause that's what happened. While we won’t be ready to announce all of our projects, we do intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show. These are very exciting times-we currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can’t wait to tell you all about them.
